A Love Story Bridal Content Day
May 22, 2023 I got the opportunity to plan and host another gorgeous content day in rural upstate NY. I love hosting content days for so many reasons, one of them is being able to see my vision come to life by the artistry of the other vendors involved. It’s so cool to collaborate with people who have just as much excitement and care about the wedding industry as I do. Another reason is I get to meet other local photographers who photograph my vision in their own unique way. It’s amazing how you put together and display the styled wedding, but see it through the eyes of multiple talented lenses of the other photographers who attend.
I remember when I first started my photography business back in 2011, there weren’t that many resources to build content and make my portfolio bring my ideal future clients I wanted to work with, in rural upstate NY. I had so many wedding styles and ideas that I wanted to create, but I struggled with having the connections and ability to execute my plans. Fast forward a decade and here I am being EXACTLY what my younger photographer self needed. I’ve had to opportunity to become friends and meet so many amazing wedding vendors over the years of being in the industry that now I can bring that dream to other new photographers, or photographers (like me) who want to photograph their dream weddings. It’s just so cool to be able to plan a day where I can create art along side fellow creatives and grow more and more in my passion.
This content day came together more perfectly than I could have planned. I had gotten a message from Kelsie at A Love Story Bridal about some new Vera Wang dresses that were about to come in. The dresses inspired art and my wheels were turning. After I came up with a simple vision board, I reached out to one of my favorite florists to hear her thoughts.. She was game, and I was stoked. Jessica hopped on the collaboration train with hair and makeup. My brain said, “go big or go home” so I reached out to a few more vendors that changed the whole game of how this day turned out. Holly Winnie put together this AMAZING wooden install with laser cut wooden calligraphy, and Moki from My Bliss Events set up the most ROMATNIC luxury picnic for my elopement bride and groom models to enjoy. Just when I thought all my vendors and vision was set, one of my models asked if I would be interested in adding an ice cream truck to my styled shoot. My answer was a huge yes, because who doesn’t love a sweet treat? Emack & Bolio’s provided such a unique pop of color that exceeded my expectations. I was nervous to see how everything would come together, dealing with balancing the time difference from Las Vegas to New York and talking separately with each vendor.. but DANG, the whole shoot came together so cohesively because of the utter talent of each vendor involved, you would have thought we met in person and planned all the colors and styles out in one room.
I also want to give a quick shoutout to my incredible second shooter who picked up the dresses and helped set everything up (and kept me sane) while I was with the models getting ready. Couldn’t have done it without her!
Thankful to be able to do what I do and grow in my passion every photoshoot.
